Are you 18 or over? Yiss!

Canon: Supernatural.
Character: Inias.
Timeline: 7x22: Reading Is Fundamental.

Personality: Warning: This personality section is going to be full of contradictions, tender feelings, an inability to grasp the obvious, and will, in general, be a clusterfuck. You're watching Supernatural.

Your first sight of Inias the Angel of the Lord is him as a soldier. When you are first introduced to him, he is ordered to kill Meg and Sam Winchester, and he instinctively agrees -- because his goal, at the time, is to reclaim the Prophet Kevin and return him to Heaven for safeguarding. He is absolute about this mission despite several hiccups along the way (such as his sister's death, his elder brother being less than sane, and the Winchesters blocking his every move), almost to the point of his own injury. When Inias states he is going to do something, he is going to do it, regardless of what happens along the way. He isn't highly ranked in Heaven, being one of the younger and weaker angels, but that doesn't mean he is incapable of defending himself, nor does it mean he won't when necessary. Soldiers are good at following orders and Inias does just that -- if a high officer orders him to kill, that's just what he's going to do.

Despite the first sighting of Inias being violent, he is far from rash or impulsive. He is shown to be level-headed, calm and pragmatic in dealing with the Winchesters or the other angels. Though much of what we see of Inias is fighting with demons, he is actually rather diplomatic -- and prefers to handle arguments with words than with swords. When his sister Hester loses her faith in Castiel and attempts to kill him, in order to put him out of his insanity-driven misery, Inias begs her to spare his life. In Inias' view there are so few angels left now that killing each other is inexcusable -- and Castiel was the reason they all began to make their own choices in the first place. He manages to calm everyone down to a discussion despite his strong dislike of the Winchesters and his need to bring the Prophet to safety at all costs. Even though he and the Winchesters were at odds with one another, they eventually allow Inias to take Kevin into safe custody -- which lasts about ten minutes, but the point is that he tried.

Inias is also gentle. Most angels in Supernatural are portrayed as being harsh, vindictive, violent, but Inias is relatively soft-spoken. When he stops Hester from killing Castiel, instead of throwing her into a wall with his powers, he gingerly wraps his fingers around her wrist to steady her hand, quietly pleading her to stop. He could have easily killed Hester in order to save his former captain. He could have killed the Winchesters to seize the prophet Kevin to take them to Heaven. He does neither. Peace is much easier to discuss than war.

Loyalty is another trait strong in Inias. Even though Castiel murdered much of Heaven and derailed the Crazy Train, he is still loyal to him and his vision of free will and peace. Inias does what his elder sister asks without question. While loyalty is one of his greatest strengths, though, it is also his greatest flaw. Angels tend to be creatures without the ability to rationalize or cater to free thought -- Inias himself has only been making his own decisions for the past few years. While he is capable of making his own decisions, Inias also does what he's told, which gets him into trouble. (The bad kind, like being hunted down by Leviathan and beaten up by demons kind of trouble.) His determination and loyalty to his cause are two of his strongest traits, though his inability to realize when something is enough (such as cutting ties from Castiel or just letting Kevin go) is a flaw. He will go to any length in order to be helpful for the people he cares for, be it his siblings or those he considers friends. That kind of mentality gets one into trouble in his world; Inias doesn't quite grasp the concept of being out for yourself. On one hand, that makes Inias a great team player. On the other, he doesn't work well solo.

Overall, though, what truly defines Inias is his ability to be kind despite the chaos around him. He is, above all else, is a gentle soul forced into difficult circumstances. He is shown to be kind and caring, loving to his siblings, respectful of authority to a fault, and completely capable of making the difficult decisions, even if he would rather not. He's a gentle soul with the ability to stab you in the face if you threaten his family or his mission, but chances are, he'll ask you if you need help before automatically assuming the worst. He strives to be what angels are supposed to be, which are shepherds of humanity -- and not what angels have turned out to be, which are a shattered species with no hope and no true goals. Whether or not Inias will succeed in keeping his beliefs during the political upheaval of Heaven still remains to be seen.

Background: Episode Wiki Character Wiki

Abilities/Additional Notes: Inias is an angel. This means he is made of two parts -- his vessel (the human body) and his Grace (which is the actual angel, Inias). He can leave this vessel if necessary and take another human body, but the individual has to consent to be taken.

Because of his luck in the genetic lottery, he also has a large variety of abilities. This includes, but isn't limited to, super strength, telekinesis, flight, and the ability to create things with his Grace. He can also read minds. All of his abilities will follow Adstringendum's rules for creatures with his moveset.

He will be coming into Adstringendum with his angel blade, which is on him at all times.

Also: Though this isn't mentioned in canon, there are several mentions of Inias the Angel in Catholic lore. Most notably, Inias was removed from the list of what the Catholic church considers honorable angels in the year 745. There are also mentions of Inias (and various spellings of his name) across different tarot cards, mostly revolving around his ability to give life to plants. None of this actually matters, but I thought it was interesting, and so it goes in the application that you guys are probably sick of reading by now. xoxo PR.

First-Person Sample:

[Inias has absolutely no idea how to use the PCD.

Still, he has figured out how to turn it on, which is a good thing -- and he's figured out how to turn on the camera, which is even better. It's too bad he didn't mean to do either of these things, so the network is treated to Inias tilting his head and looking curiously into the viewfinder before he seems to realize that the feed is running, and he smiles faintly.]

It appears that I am still here after this "event".

[He says the word uncertainly, but Inias seems to be in good spirits.]

Would anyone be inclined to point me in the direction of the nearest church?

Third-Person Sample:

It had been ages since Inias was allowed to explore at will, to go wherever he chose without fear of death or punishment. Being a member of the rebellion lead a somewhat impermanent timestamp on the rest of his life -- and relaxation was out of the question. The Leviathan were crawling all over the earth, the demons were out of control, and Heaven was collapsing around them... his world was Hell on Earth. Inias wasn't sure the Apocalypse was ever averted.

So when he discovered that he had stayed behind in Adstringendum, after he had tracked down his siblings and ensured they were all fine, Inias decided that he wanted to fly.

It didn't take long, though, for Inias to discover that there were limits to his powers. He couldn't leave this dimension. It was sort of like flying around inside a massive fishbowl -- there were limits to where he could fly and how high he could go. That was frustrating, but as Inias alighted near the top of the volcano and relished in the heat, he decided that it was worth it just to not be chased anymore.

Freedom was a thing you never noticed was there until you lost it.

While he was enjoying his freedom, Inias noticed that he couldn't fly into buildings like he used to. It didn't take him very long to fly into his first door, with a sickening crunch of feathers that terrified some poor local into locking their doors and slamming their one working window shut. Disoriented, Inias blinked up at the sky before he sighed.

"A lesson learned."

Even freedom had limitations.
